Commenting on the news that Chairman of the Independent Budget Review Group Crawford Beveridge, is to share a platform with John Swinney at a serious of public meetings discussing the budget, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP said:
"I am writing to Crawford Beveridge with concerns that him sharing a platform with John Swinney as Chairman of the Independent Review group raises potential conflicts.
"The Government is yet to respond to the recommendations of the independent budget review in spite of repeated requests and Crawford Beveridge sharing a platform with John Swinney raises a concern that the independence of Mr Beveridge and the budget review group will be called into question.
"It is John Swinney's right to hold public meetings across Scotland concerning SNP Government policy, but I hope on reflection that Mr Beveridge considers that it would be preferable if members of the Independent Budget Review group continue to carry out separate activities."
