Commenting as the world's largest tidal energy turbine is unveiled off Orkney, Liberal Democrat Energy spokesman and MSP for Orkney Liam McArthur said:
"The establishment of this tidal turbine is good news for Orkney and good news for Scotland's efforts in the field of renewable energy.
"However, all this effort will go to waste if we do not sort out our discriminatory transmission charging regime.
"I am glad that Chris Huhne and the UK Government are reviewing the country's energy market and specifically looking at transmission charging.
"With most of the energy needed in the south but produced in the north, it does not make sense to penalise renewable energy producers in the Highlands and Islands."
