Commenting on the unemployment figures, which show that the rate of unemployment is now higher than that for the UK as a whole, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP said:
"It is disappointing and perverse that the Scottish Government is seeking to take some form of credit for unemployment figures that show the rate of unemployment in Scotland is higher than the UK rate.
"The trend of increasing unemployment in Scotland needs to be reversed.
"This should be the focus of the Scottish and new UK Government, working together."
