Commenting on a report released today by the Healthcare Environment Inspectorate which says that infection control policies are not being followed properly at Borders General Hospital in Melrose, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson, Ross Finnie MSP

"This is clearly a very disappointing report for Borders General Hospital that reflects badly on hospital management.

"Proper infection control practices and high standards of cleanliness are paramount in hospitals.

"Management at the hospital needs to implement the reports' recommendations in full so that patients are not put at risk.

"Patients deserve the best care when they are in hospital, which includes clean and safe hospitals."
