Commenting on the Finance Committee's report into the Budget, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP said:
"The Tories weren't even prepared to accept that the case had not been sufficiently made for GARL to be cancelled.
"The clinch vote to prevent GARL being opposed by the Finance Committee rested with the Conservatives.
"But their supine approach in simply falling into line with the SNP is now fully exposed by their position in the Finance Committee. Business organisations are right to be shocked by this.
"The Liberal Democrats fought very hard in the Committee to keep the door open for GARL. I am deeply disappointed that the Conservatives sided with the SNP and want to slam the door shut on GARL."
