Alison McInnes MSP, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson, has called on everyone, including Scottish politicians, to take a small step this week towards cutting unnecessary transport use.

Alison McInnes MSPToday marks the start of the annual Walk to Work week with people being urged to walk all or part of their journey to work. Mrs McInnes has taken the pledge to walk to work and is urging others to follow suit.

Commenting, Mrs McInnes said:

"Everyone is guilty from time to time of using the car for a journey that could be made on foot and I am no different. We must try to change that culture and national walk to work week is a great chance to show MSPs leading by example.

"Whether walking to Holyrood in the morning, between meetings or to the train station, I will make an effort to cut out unnecessary car trips this week, next week and beyond.

"Taking just a small step can help us all be a little more green, lean and mean through these tough times."
