Liberal Democrat MSP for Glasgow Robert Brown has urged SNP Ministers to commit to developing Dalmarnock station in Glasgow into a vital transport hub as one of the key "gateways" for the 2014 Glasgow Games.
Mr Brown's comments come ahead of a debate in the Scottish Parliament on transport infrastructure in the West of Scotland.
Commenting, Mr Brown said:
"The Commonwealth Games will be Glasgow's window on the world. It is vital that the transport infrastructure that supports the city is in top class condition.
"Dalmarnock station urgently needs a dramatic transformation to be a key gateway for the Games and part of the ongoing legacy after the Games.
"Clyde Gateway have already committed to the project. SNP Ministers must recognise the opportunities here and also commit to supporting this vital redevelopment.
"This is a one off chance to get the transport infrastructure for the Games right and improve the overall transport infrastructure for the West of Scotland. It must not be missed."
