Tavish Scott, leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland, has called on Lloyds to set out how many job losses are expected as a result of its takeover of HBOS.
Derek Simpson, joint leader of Unite has called on the Government to intervene to protect banking jobs as he addressed union activists in Glasgow today.
Tavish Scott MSPCommenting, Mr Scott said:
"As unemployment rises, many people are worried about their jobs. None more so than the Lloyds and HBOS employees who have had an axe hanging over their jobs since autumn last year.
"Lloyds need to end the uncertainty and speculation. They need to spell out how many job losses are expected across the country. This will allow people at risk to plan for the future and action can be started to support them as they try to find jobs elsewhere.
"But let's not forget that Derek Simpson backed the Labour Government's enforced take-over of HBOS by Lloyds. It's a bit rich for him now to start worrying about job losses."
