Commenting on the new guidelines for the monitoring of infections in Scottish hospitals, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:
"While welcoming this announcement, I am disappointed that it was not made immediately after the report was published in November.
"Despite today's announcement the question of why hospital acquired infections got out of hand at the Vale of Leven hospital remains unanswered.
"Until we have a full public enquiry we will not get to the bottom of this."
